Abstract
In order to study the effects of aqua-acupuncture with different products of ginseng radix to the diabetic rats induced by alloxan, a series of three days aqua-acupuncture treatments with raw, four year old white, six year old white and red ginseng were respectively carried on into the loci corresponding to Samumgyo ($Sp_6$) of the human body and the changes of insulin, glucose, glucagon and c-peptide in serum were measured. The results were as follows: 1. The level of serum insulin was increased with the statistical significance by the aqua-acupuncture with 6 year old white ginseng, raw ginseng and 4 year old white ginseng as compared with the alloxan treated group. However aqua-acupuncture with red ginseng did not make any significance. 2. The level of blood glucose was decreased with the statistical significance by the aqua-acupuncture with 6 year old white ginseng, raw ginseng, red ginseng and 4 year old white ginseng as compared with the alloxan treated group. 3. The level of serum glucagon was decreased with the statistical significance by the aqua-acupuncture with raw ginseng, 6 year old white ginseng, 4 year old white ginseng and red ginseng as compared with the alloxan treated group. 4. The level of serum c-peptide was increased with the statistical significance by the aqua-acupuncture with raw ginseng, 6 year old white ginseng and 4 year old white ginseng as compared with the alloxan treated group. However aqua-acupuncture with red ginseng did not make any significance. According to the above results, aqua-acupuncture prepared by raw ginseng, 4 year old white ginseng, 6 year old white ginseng and red ginseng to Samumgyo ($Sp_6$) made some different results on the serum insulin, glucose, glucagon and c-peptide of the diabetic rats induced by alloxan, and so it is recommended to make further researches on the safety and the herb materials for aqua-acupuncture solution in clinical use.
