A Study on the Handle of Fabrics for Korean Women한s Clothes

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of mechanical properties on handle of fabrics for some of the Korea women's clothes. In this paper, the handle is regarded as a tactual evaluation judged from physical stimuli of fabric mechanical properties. The KES-F fabric testing systems were used to measure such mechanical properties, as tensile, bending, compression, shearing, surface characteristics and thickness & weight of fabrics for Korea women's clothes. 168 different kinds of commercial silk fabrics and polyester fabrics were used for this study. And also, the technique of stepwise-block-regression method was applied to investigate relation among these mechanical factors. Finally, we have obtained useful formulas for calculation the hand values of fabrics for Korean women's clothes. Furthermore, a comparison of formula was carried out between the fabrics for Korean women's clothes and Japanese women's thin dress fabrics.
