Abstract

This research identified the relationships existing among the performance properties of a selected group of men's suiting fabrics, interlining materials and fused composite system to show how the mechanical properties of single layer components change the physical properties of the fused ensembles. The Kawabata Evaluation System was used to measure the mechanical properties of the test materials by type of interlining, type of face fabric, and constituent fiber of interlining. It is concluded that the magnitude of the increase in shear stiffness(G), shear hysteresis(2HG), bending rigidity(B), and bending hysteresis(2HB) after fusing of interlining to face fabric depends not only on the construction of a face fabric, but also on the nature of the interlinings.
