Abstract

Cellulose-chitosan blend fibers were prepared by wet spinning. The blends were made by using the mixed solvent of dimethylacetamide (DMAc) containing 9% (w/w) lithium chloride (LiCl). Chitosan to be dispersed in DMAc was well mixed with cellulose-DMAc/LiCl solution system. The properties of the blend fibers were studied in terms of crystal structure, orientation, mechanical properties, and antimicrobial activity.
