Abstract

This study was performed in order to investigate the anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities of Mori cortex aqua-acupunctrue solution(MCAS). MCAS was incubated at $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 min porcine pancreas and Crotalus atrox phospholipase $A_2(PLA_2)$ respectively. MCAS showed about 64% inactivation of group I $PLA_2$ from porcine pancreas, and 80% inactivation of group Ⅱ $PLA_2$ from Crotalus atrox ultimately. On the basis these results, it is suggested that MCAS might play an anti-inflammatory role by a mechanism that probably involves inactivation of $PLA_2$. In addition, MCAS suppressed the edema induced by carrageenin in rat paw. On the other hand, in order to investigate the effects of MCAS on IgE-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylactic(PCA) reaction, BALB/C mice were sensitized 3 times once in a week by an subcutaneous injection of egg albumin emulsified with complete freund's adjuvant, and treated MCAS for 3days after each sensitization. In this teat, MCAS ezhibied dose-dependent inhibitory effect on histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells.
