Abstract

This study is a nationwide survey of Korean public libraries to identify and analyze the usefulness of 69 evaluation indicators of a public library proposed by the authors in the previous paper. A random sample of respondents including library managers, librarians, and users rated the usefulness of each indicator in assessing the performance of a public library. The results of this study could be used as the basic data in the evaluation of public libraries by selecting appropriate indicators and giving weight on each indicator according to the specific evaluation purpose.

이 연구는 필자들의 선행연구로 이미 제시되었던 공공도서관 평가지표에 대해 도서관 관리층과 사서직은 물론 이용자들이 생각하는 중요성에 대한 인지도를 비교, 분석하였다. 전국의 공공도서관을 무선표집하여 설문 조사하였는데, 분석된 결과는 공공도서관 평가작업을 위한 지표선정 및 가중치 부여 등의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
