Abstract

This research was carried on to present the conditions of needlework minimizing seam puckering of Supplex which is a stretch fabric being more and more widely used by sports wear manufacturing companies, and to offer information on enhancing the efficiency of needlework to the clothing industry. In this research, the two kinds of Supplex of different weights were selected, and the seam puckering in the case of 406 stitch which is usually utilized for stretch fabric was studied. The four mechanisms of seam pucker, i.e. tension pucker, inherent pucker, feeding pucker and shringkage pucker were investigated, and the measurement of seam pucker was carried objectively and quantitatively with a 3-D laser scanning system.
