The local street is an area functioning as visiting neighbors, pedestrian space, and a residential district to the main street. However, the rapid increasement of vehicles and houses results in the illegal parking and the decreasement of the function of boulevards results in growing the traffic load in the local street and the severe noise pollution, the pedestrian environment of the local street is deteriorating. By the analysis of pedestrian's trace taken with camcorder, this paper intends to supply the basic material of pedestrian's behavior in local street. In the local street closely locating in the urban area, which is bidirectional, it is shown the AM ratio is high and the speed rate of walking is low and additionaly, the level of pedestrian service is also low. It is believed that the pedestrian environment in the bidirectional street is worse than that of one-way street because of the limited pedestrian space in the bidirectional street. Consequently, a large number of pedestrians are threatened by the growing speed rate and walking rate. So, a pedestrian-oriented concept and rules regulating high speed rate are urgently needed in enforcing the one-way transit system.
이면도로는 주거지와 도로와의 연결, 보행공간과 이웃간의 교류의 장 등 기능을 가지고 있는 공간이다 그러나 급증하는 자동차와 주거지 주차장의 부족으로 도로상에 불법주차가 만연되고 있는 현상을 보이며, 간선도로의 이동성 기능의 결여로 이면도로에 통과 차량이 증가하고 있어 통과교통에 의한 보행환경의 저해와 차량소음으로 인하여 생활환경이 나빠짐에 따라 이면도로에서의 보행환경은 열악하게 되었다. 따라서 본고는 주거지역 이면도로의 보행 행태를 비디오 촬영을 통한 보행자궤적을 분석함으로써 보행자에 대한 기초자료로 활용토록 하기 위함이다. 도시민의 생활하는 이면도로에서 양방향통행을 하는 이면도로에서 굴곡도가 높았으며, 보행속도는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 보행서비스수준도 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 폭원이 좁은 이면도로에서 차량의 양방향통행으로 인해 보행공간이 축소되어지고 있어 일방향통행보다 보행환경이 열악하기 때문이라고 사료된다. 하지만, 일방향통행은 보행속도와 차량속도가 함께 빨라지고 있어 보행자에게 위협이 되고 있어 일방향통행을 실시하는데 차량의 감속방안과 함께 차량운전자들은 보행자가 우선인 도로라는 인식으로의 전환이 필요할 것이다.
