Abstract
The object of this study is to investigate the mean age when the permanent tooth was extracted in Korean and to examine the accumulated frequency by the age. We have collected the 4,713 extracted permanent teeth from 7 dental clinics in Korea. The dentist has sent them with patient record packaged. We classified the extracted tooth by the age, sex, the cause of extraction, the tooth type and residency. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS/PC software. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The mean age of the tooth extracted was 43.1 years in both sexes for the mandibular first molars and the mandibular first molars had the shortest life except third molars of total teeth. 2. The average age of maxillary wisdom tooth extracted was 36.9 years old, and that of mandibular tooth was 35.5 years old. 3. In the 6 anterior teeth of maxilla, there was a statistically different at the mean age of tooth extracted between male and female(p<0.05), and the mean age of female was higher than that of male. 4. In the mandibular first and second molar, there was a statistically difference at mean age of tooth extracted between male and female(p<0.05), and the mean age of male was higher than that of female.
