Abstract

Internet has greatly influenced on the medical education and exchange of biomedical information. Furthermore, this technology is now widely used in the evaluation of medical students and gives rise great interest on the CAT (computeraided testing). In this report, we adopted one of network technology (CGI; common gateway interface) to the evaluation of medical students. Students are supposed to click the radio button to answer the questions and if they click the 'submit' button, then the examination is finished. Student evaluation and item analysis was designed to perform in the internet browser just after termination of examination of all students. The most important merit of this evaluation method is supposed to be the multimedia items used in the examination.Vivid color pictures seen in the monitors were proved to be the key component for the objective evaluation and perfection of the examination items. Although this method is not supposed to be the perfect method at this time, we believe that continuous efforts for the improvement of remained technical problems will make this method one of the most useful and effective evaluation.

의과대학에서 인터넷을 활용한 교육과 의료정보의 전달은 현재까지 활발히 진행되고 있으며 최근에는 이를 의학교육평가에 이용할 수 있는 단계에 이르고 있다. 인터넷을 활용해 시험을 치를 수 있는 방법 중의 하나는 CGI(common gateway interface)라고 하는 공통문고리를 활용하는 풀그림(software)을 이용하는 것으로 본 대학에서도 인터넷을 활용한 시험에 이 풀그림을 활용하였다. 본 대학의 기숙사에는 개인당 한 대씩 활용할 수 있고 인터넷에 연결 가능한 컴퓨터가 비치되어 있으며 의예과시절부터 '의료정보학'이라는 교과목을 통하여 컴퓨터와 인터넷을 통한 의료정보를 충분히 활용할 수 있도록 여건을 조성하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 멀티미디어 학습실에는 한 학년 전체가 실습할 수 있는 다수의 컴퓨터가 마련되어 있어 인터넷을 통한 시험을 치룰 수 있는 기반이 완벽하게 갖춰진 상태라 할 수 있다. 이러한 시험형태가 가질 수 있는 장점으로는 시·공간의 초월성,채점 및 시험문항 분석의 용이성 등을 들 수 있다. 의과대학에서는 이 외에도 고해상도의 사진과 그림을 컴퓨터 모니터에서 이용할 수 있다는 점이 강조될 수 있는데 이를 통하여 보다 심도 있고 완성도 높은 시험문항을 만들 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 이러한 종류의 시험형태는 앞으로 조직학 병리학 기생충학 내과학 진단방사선과학 등 고해상도 현미경 사진이나 X-ray 필름을 시험문제에 사용할 수 있는 교과목에서 자주 활용될 수 있을 것으로 전망된다. 본 대학에서는 시험을 치르기 전과 치른 후에 학생들을 대상으로 학습자 개인특성, 편의성 및 만족도, 장점과 단점 등에 관한 폭넓은 설문조사를 하였으며 이를 통하여 인터넷을 활용한 시험방법을 개선하고 더욱 활성화시키기 위한 중요한 정보들을 얻었다. 인터넷을 활용하여 의학교육의 평가를 시도하는 것은 일종의 기법이지 새로운 개념은 아니다. 그러나 여기에 멀티미디어자료를 손쉽게 넣을 수 있다는 점, 그리고 한정된 공간이 아닌 전 세계 어디서든지 접근하여 시험을 치르도록 할 수 있다는 점은 기존의 시험방법관의 차별점이다. 현 시점에서는 단답형과 주관식문제에 대한 출제 및 채점에 대한 한계 등 몇가지 제한이 있기는 하나 이러한 기술적인 문제들도 조만간 해결될 것으로 보인다.
