Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the possibility of treating plant growth retardants to seeds to suppress height of plug seedlings. Seeds of ‘Hyangchon’ and ‘Nokkwang’ peppers were soaked in a 15 mL solution of either daminozide (10, 100, or 1,000 $mgáL^{-1}$), uniconazole (1, 10, or 100 $mgáL^{-1}$), or ethephon (1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 $mgáL^{-1}$) for one, three, and five days, respectively. Only uniconazole had significant effect on suppressing hypocotyl length and seedling height, while other treatments had decreased percent emergence without any expected suppression of stem length in both cultivars.

‘녹광’과 ‘향촌’ 고추 종자를 daminozide(10, 100, or 1,000mg·L-1), uniconazole(1, 10, or 100mg·L-1), 혹은 ethephon(1,000, 2,000, or 3,000mg·L-1)에 각각 증류수 15mL 첨가하여 1일, 3일, 또는 5일 동안 침지하였다.
