Abstract

This research was performed to investigate the fermentation characteristics of food-waste with rumen microbes, and the effect of NaCl, ${NH_4}^+-N$ and alkaline pretreatment. As a results of experiment, total volatile fatty acids(TVFA) production rate was very low at 5.000 mg/L-NaCl over and ${NH_4}^+-N$ concentration had no particular effect on the formation of TVFA at 2.000 mg/L over. In the case of first-order decay rates of VSS. it was very high at CaO treatment. TVFA production rate was high at CaO, $CaC0_3$ treatment and high foodwaste loading. The correlation between TVFA and SCOD concentration was TVFA=$0.8656{\times}SCOD$-295.62 with high relation concern as $R^2$ = 0.8589. Consequently, the TVFA production of foodwaste fermentation with rumen microbes is influenced at high foodwaste loading under the concentration of 5,000 mg/L-NaCl and the adaptable pretreatment is a CaO treatment.
