A clinical study of abnormal uterine bleeding from atypical endometrial hyperplasia

Abstract

Endometrial hyperplasia(EH) is an abnormal proliferation. predominantly of the glandular component of the endometrium, which may progress to well differentiated carcinoma in a small percentage of woman. The most frequent complaint in the EH patients is metrorrhagia. Hysterectomy is the common treatment for EH patients in western medicine. But this is the treatment for these patients if they are willing to give up their fertility. So herb-med treatment is needed for other patients. This study is about one patient who has metrorrhagia for atypical endometrial hyperplasia. The patient was treated with oriental herbal medication of Eunhwasagan-Tang. The metrorrhagia of the EH patient was reduced by one day and stopped by three day from the herbal treatment. The metrorrhagia of the EH patient was not repeated during one month. This study showed successful oriental herbal treatment of metrorrhagia of EH patients. Of course, treatments of endometrial hyperplasia should include those which would promote a high conception rate and less chance for the endometrial hyperplasia to progress to adenocarcinoma. So further study will be investigated in oriental medicine for healing the EH patients completely.
