Abstract
This study is to examine spill-over effect of Korean sports industry by using Input-Output table. This study analyzes sports industry divided into three sectors: sport-related goods sector, sport-related facility sector and sports-related service sector. Sports-related goods sector has the highest production-inducing effect, followed by sports-related facility sector and sports-related service sector. For value-adding effect, sport-related service sector is the most enormous followed by sports-related facility sector, and sport-related goods sector. In 2000, the expenditure in the central government`s budget was about ₩87.5 trillion and sport-related expenditure was about ₩169.9 billion, accounting for 0.19% of the whole expenditure. According to Input-Output Analysis based on the result of 1995 and 1998, the production inducing effect of expenditure for sports industry by central government was ₩332.2~₩343.5 billion, and its value-adding effect was ₩148.6~₩148.9 billion in 2000.
