Abstract
The pedestrian space in campus is not the simple moving space but the central place of campus life as meeting, rest, information exchange, exhibition and performance etc. But in the process of campus enlargement the functions and spatial range of the pedestrian space are reduced by vehicle space. From this point of view, the purpose of this study is to redesign present pedestrian space in campus. This study intents to figure out the spatial structure of chungju university campus in the respect of pedestrian and vehicle movement using space syntax theory. Integration and Intelligibility, major index of space syntax theory, were used as design parameters. The concept of pedestrian axis and the possibility of pedestrian space extension were analyzed. As a result three stage of alternatives were proposed.
