Abstract
This study aims to provide basic data which can contribute to the development of dancesports by considering popularization process of dancesports through the Internet. For the goal of this study, the news articles related to dancesports were collected through the Internet homepage of four major newspaper publishing companies, the researcher classified them three times by the newspaper companies, by year, by types of articles, and also surveyed existing state. The results of this study and data analysis are as following that: First, as for the total number of the articles by the newspaper companies, Donga Ilbo(283) is the top and it is showed in order of Chosun Ilbo(253), Hankook Ilbo(191) and Jonngang Ilbo(137). Second, as for the number of the articles by year, it is showed like 1998(57), 1999(96), 200(243), 2001(218), 2002(132).Third, as for the number of the articles by type, the article about the course is the top and it is followed by the articles about exhibitions, circles, international festivals, character of dancesports, and the rest. After these things, the articles about films, dance, TV programs, art festivals, cable broadcasts and telecommunications satellite are mainly dealt with. Regarding all these things, it is considered that the newspaper companies attracted larger number of people offering information on dancesports courses, places and exhibitions to them, and also it is considered that there were huge effort of interested persons in dancesports. Moreover, increase of the articles related to dancesports in the late 1990s and in 2000 was due to the 1998 Bangkok Asian Game, the 2000 Sidney Olympics and popularity of "Shall We Dance", therefore negative and illegal academic institute were changed into legal circles or social education center course, so that the people could change their understanding on dancesports.
