Abstract
Conventional storm water management is to minimize the consequences of flood most through drainage system. But recently, the infiltration and detention of storm water become a real alternative to conventional sewer system in urban areas. Therefore, this study is designed to find and establish concept and to apply the decentralized storm water management through the investigation of the possibility for planning of decentralized storm water management with a GIS in Korea. In Application study, the following questions were answered where decentralized storm water management is applicable under the local condition, which is the optical technique for decentralized storm water management under the given conditions, and where are the optical locations for storm water management. And with a GIS the natural factors(the infiltration capacity of soils, the slope of the ground, the height) and land use factors(the type of building, the space available for distributed measures) were collected and analyzed. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of on-site storm water management using small infiltration enhancement structures and retention pond on storm runoff reduction and flood control.
