Effects of the Health-Related Physical Fitness on Walking and Resistance Exercise of the Older Women

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of the health-related physical fitness on walking 물 resistance exercise of the older women according to their exercise period. To carry out the study 24 older women(average age : 71.6$\pm$4.5), who reside in the silver town in the area of B metropolitan city, were chosen and were divided into 4 groups : 4-week exercise group(exercise for 4 weeks and detraining for 8 weeks), 8-week exercise group(exercise for 8 weeks and detraining for 4 weeks), 12-week exercise group(exercise for 12 weeks) and control group. According to their exercise period are given to exercise, utilizing walking, dumbbell and elastic band with the intensity of RPE 11-13(65-80% of HRmax) and 65-80% of 1RM for 60 minutes a time, twice per week. The health-related physical fitness are investigated by their fitness test on the basis of pretest, after 4 weeks/ 8 weeks/ 12 weeks, respectively. The two-way repeated measures ANOVA and one-way repeated measure ANOVA were used with the method of statistical research, and $\alpha$=.05 set up with the significant level. The results were as follow : 1. In the case of the cardiovascular-respiratory function, 8-week group and 12-week group showed high level and the interaction effect between group and test time. And the actual function of 8-week group and 12-week group were improved after 8 weeks and 12 weeks, respectively. 2. In the case of flexibility, 8-week group was shown improved after 4 weeks and 12 weeks, and 12-week group was after 4/8/12 weeks. 3. In the case of muscular strength and muscular endurance, stand-up and sit-down from a chair by 4-week group was much improved after 4 weeks and 12 weeks.
