Abstract

Routine use of caesarean section for breech presentation is widespread.The aim of this study is to report the value of oriental treatment in the conversion of fetal breech presentation into vertex presentation.The patient in this case, 32 years-old female, was diagnosed as a breech presentation by ultrasonography and treated from the 27th February 2002 to the 4th April 2002 (from the 33th week to the 38th week of pregnancy).We treated this patient with moxibustion of acupuncture point(BL 67), herb medicine and exercise. Breech presentation was successfully corrected by oriental treatment and the patient achieved a vaginal delivery.Oriental treatment is expected to serve as a safe and effective modality in management of breech presentation before choosing caesarean section.
