Abstract
Purpose : The postmenopose symptoms can be related to a mental and physical disorder. So there are many Hwa-byeong signs in the climacteric period. Hwa- byeong, the syndrome usually found in Korean society, is more frequent to women than to men. The symptom and mechanism of Hwa-byeong are similar to those of menopausal symptoms, so that it is manifested or deepened in the postmenopose and severe case. The important thing in treating its patient is that the patient has Hwa-byeong. I will demonstrate how this point will bring efficacious results.Methods : In this case, the patient, 52 years-old female was in Daejeon University Oriental Medical Hospital for 25 days(14th/Dec/2002-8th/Jan/2003). When she was admitted in hospital, her chief complaints were flushed face with fever, chest discomfort, palpitation, insomnia, headache, carpopedal anaphrodisia, chiropodalgia, back pain, and facial numbness. These were caused by climacteric changes and became worse by mental shock. So, we would like to report that it is effective to cure the climacteric case by giving her the therapies with herb medicine, acupuncture, auriculoacupuncture, moxa, aroma therapy and negative. After that, her symptoms got almost disappeared and her condition was even better.Results & Conclusion : The oriental medical treatments for the climacteric symptoms with Hwa-byeong have showed its excellent effectiveness through many experiments and above the methods.Its clinical practices are actively taken as well. The superior efficacy will follows the active effort.
