Abstract

Rat has been widely used as a hepatic disease animal including hepatitis and hepatic fibrosis. However, recent studies using mouse-hepatits model have gradually increased than rat. Because of has some advantages like cost and breeding. With high sensitivity of hepatotoxin, delayed recovery time from acute-hepatitis is important factor in hepatitis animal model because it allows sufficient time for administration of testing drugs. In this study, we have investigated the sensitivity and spontaenous recovery times from hepatitis induced by $CCI_4$ in three mouse strains: Balb/c, C57BLl6 and ICR to find a useful strain as hepatitis model. The sensitivity and spontaenous recovery time were evaluated by the activity of serum ALT and AST, and the contents of tissue collagens. Our results showed the sensitivity of liver injury induced by $CCI_4$ was similar in all strains. However, spontaenous recovery time is more delayed in Balb/c mice than C57BLl6 and ICR mice. These results would be helpful to make a experimental design for mouse hepatitis model.
