Abstract

A DIfferential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) system has been developed for tropospheric ozone concentration measurements at both daytime and nighttime. The developed DIAL demonstrates that the distribution of ozone concentrations can be measured up to about 2 km with a 50-m spatial resolution and a 2-min temporal resolution. In order to obtain more accurate results, we made an aerosol correction by using both the Klett method and the decrease in the signal-induced-noise (SIN) effect. That decrease was achieved by using a linear fit to the logarithm of the lidar signal. Additionally, a comparison between the results from the DIAL and those from other instruments was conducted to confirm their agreement.
