Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify some points derived from a survey about recycling patterns and recycling rates, and to provide efficient ways for developing the recycling of waste products. The subject of the survey is of 425 residents, in Deajeon, a typical metropolitan suburb in South Korea The followings are the results of the study. The survey of recycling patterns says that many people are still reluctant to collect and recycle waste products as they think recycling is not effective, because both waste and recyclable products are still dumped as rubbish This shows the need for the government to regulate the disposal of waste and recyclable products in a way that allows easy classification of the two products. Many people are extremely dissatisfied with the designated collecting places of recyclable products, as these products are not collected at the proper times, and other wastes are being dumped at these places. Therefore, more waste recycling-baskets should be supplied, collected at the proper times, and an appropriate penalty system should be made for prevention of illegal dumping.
