Abstract

Most of recommended potato varieties in Korea are white skin colored. Purple skinned potatoes have been recognized as being effective in the prevention of gastric disease. A new variety “Jaseo” has dark purple skin and white flesh colors, and attractive round tuber shape with very shallow eyes as a table use. Yielding potential is high, especially with excellent marketable yields and very uniform tuber weight. It has the growth habit of spreading with purple vein-colored leaves and stems. It shows resistance to PLRV and moderate resistance to potato late blight. However it is relatively susceptible to PVX, PVY, and common scab.
