Abstract

기존의 많은 선행 연구를 통하여 심리적 안녕감과 여가참여의 긍정적인 관계는 입증되어져 왔다. 특히, 다른 연령층에 비하여 신체적, 심리적, 그리고 사회적인 변화를 더 많이 경험하게 되는 노인층에게 있어서 심리적 안녕감은 더욱 중요하게 다루어져야 하지만 노인을 대상으로 한 연구는 많이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구는 심리적 안녕감을 정의하고 노인의 심리적 안녕감과 여가참여의 중요성을 파악하며 심리적 안녕감과 여가참여, 그리고 성격과의 관계를 탐구함으로써 노인의 심리적 안녕감을 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하는 데에 목적이 있다. 심리적 안녕감과 관련된 여러 가지 이론들의 분석을 바탕으로 개인의 독립성과 성격을 심리적 안녕감에 밀접한 영향을 끼치는 두 가지 주된 요인으로 보고 이들의 관계를 분석하였다. 기존의 선행 연구들의 분석을 통하여 여가활동 참여가 노인의 독립성을 향상 시킬 수 있는 중요한 매개체이며 나아가 심리적 안녕감에도 기여하는 것을 밝혀냈다. 또한 성격요인은 여가활동 참여를 결정하는 주요 요인이기도 하며 동시에 심리적 안녕감에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 여가참여와 성격요인은 서로 영향을 주고받는 상호관계로서 존재하며 여가참여는 노인의 독립성을 향상시켜 심리적 안녕감을 증진시킬 수 있다. 그러므로, 여가 교육자들은 개인의 성격 요인과 그 외의 개인의 사회, 인구학적 배경을 고려하여 개인별로 독립성을 최대한 증진시킬 수 있는 적절한 여가 프로그램을 제공함으로써 노인 개개인의 심리적 안녕감을 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다.
