Abstract
Globalization has become an unfolding trend in many countries, especially in those in Asia. One of the major drivers of this trend is opening of its industries. Increasing numbers of multinational corporations have been advancing into Asia and many of them have China as their prime focus. The trend of globalization has greatly affected the port cities in Asia. It has resulted in phenomena, which port is quickly growing and declining or changing, comparing with those of western countries. Under these circumstances, this study is to find good ways for remodelling of old ports and decide efficiently to preference-rank related to remodelling project in Korea by using Analytic Hierarchy Process. The main findings of this study through the analysis could be summarized as follows. First, appropriate criteria, such as efficiency, safety, amenity and harmony, could be extracted from Delphi survey. Due to economical requirement for reusing and preponderance of interviewee, efficiency as criteria is higher than the other criteria in terms of the degree of importance. Second, differing from the result of criteria, remodelling projects related to harmony between city and port are high-rank. It means that main problem is to conflict between city function and port function. Therefore, urban planer and port planer have to focus on establishing a comprehensive plan and an associated organization including city and port. The limitation of this study is to lean upon the group of port expert as interviewee.
