Evaluation of Local Stresses and Fatigue Crack of Longitudinal Rib to Cross Beam Joints in Orthotropic Steel Deck

Abstract

The static and the fatigue tests were performed to investigate the local stresses and to evaluate the fatigue behavior of the longitudinal rib to cross beam joints using the full-scale prototype specimens. In the static test, the strain measurements of biaxial direction in local region near by the weld part were conducted and compared with the analysis results to evaluate the stress concentration. In fatigue tests, fatigue crack initiation and propagation were investigated and predicted the inclined crack growth by using the strain energy density factor under biaxial stress states. The fatigue crack was repaired by the temporary treatment with the stop-hole to delay the fatigue crack growth. The effects of the repair and the prediction results in crack propagation from the edge of the stop-hole were presented.

강바닥판의 종리브와 횡리브 교차부의 주변에 대한 국부응력과 피로거동을 조사하기 위하여 실물크기의 시험편을 제작하여 정적 및 피로시험을 실시하였다. 정적거동에 있어서는 횡리브 절취부의 종리브 하단 돌림 용접부 주변에 이축방향으로 변형율을 측정하여 응력을 구하고 이를 해석결과와 비교하여 응력발생 양상을 평가하였다. 피로거동에 있어서는 피로균열의 발생 및 진전을 분석하고 변형에너지 밀도계수를 이용한 이축응력 상태에서의 경사균열에 대한 균열 진전해석을 수행하였다. 발생된 피로균열에 대해서는 균열진전을 지연시키기 위한 응급조치로 스톱홀에 의한 보수를 실시하고 그에 따른 보수 효과와 스톱홀로부터의 균열진전에 대하여 검토하였다.
