Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to obtain the opinion of residents for the implementation of adjusted water fluoridation in Jeonju, Korea. Methods: An opinion, perception and attitude of 2,290 parents of school-children were questionnaired about adjusted water fluoridation. Results: The parents had the affirmative opinion for the adjusted water fluoridation was 3.3 times more than the negative opinion. 63.7% of parents knew very well the object of the adjusted water fluordation which is implemented to prevent dental caries. The odds ratio of parents was 0.20 who getting affirmative information for water fluoridiaton or not, but that of parents was 4.25 who getting negative information. Conclusions: Jeonju is a good area to implement the adjusted water fluoridation and it will serve to be prevented dental caries of children. In order to get more affirmative rate for implementation of water fluoridation, the information of it should be more supplied to citizen by the government level.
