Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to survey the knowledge of parents, to identify relevant factors, and to prepare basic data for the development of adjusted water fluoridation program. Methods: A questionnaire survey was carried out on 4,734 parents of school-children who reside in some part of Chollabuk-do Province, Korea. The data were analysed using the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression modeling. Results and Conclusions: Overall, 62.4 percent of parents had heard about adjusted water fluoridation. In consequence of the chi-square test, the variables related to the awareness of water fluoridation were age, income, education level of children, dental utilization, toothbrushing frequency, education level, transportation difficulties for dental utilization, attitude of oral disease prevention, and experience of toothache. In consequence of the multiple logistic regression analysis, education level, income, attitude of oral disease prevention and perception of salience about oral health had significant relation with awareness of water fluoridation.
