Abstract

To elucidate the mating condition of Bombus ignitus and B. terrestris, a light sources, temperature and age of mating were investigated. Among four light sources tested, IL30, FCL22D, FL20B and FL20PG, FCL 22D showed higher mating rate than the other light sources. Among mating temperature of 20 $^{\circ}C$, 25 $^{\circ}C$ and 30 $^{\circ}C$, the mating rate was the best at 25 $^{\circ}C$ in B. terrestris. In case of mating age of B. ignitus queen, the mating rate was high at 15-day-old queen after eclusion but colony development including rate of colony foundation and progeny-queen production was the best at 5-day-old queen after eclusion. And also, the mating rate of 8 - 10-day-old-male was higher than that of 1 - 2-day-old-male.
