Experimental Evaluation of Redundancy of Two-Girder Bridges

실험을 통한 2주거더교의 여유도 평가

Abstract

The plate girder bridges with 2 or 3 girders are increasingly constructed to decrease life cycle cost of steel bridges. However, concern has been raised that twin-girder bridges do not have enough redundancy and bearing capacity when one of the girders are damaged. This paper describes the results of redundancy test that was carried out using a mock up simple span bridge. For simulating fatigue crack, fracture was first introduced to the flange at the center of the girder and propagated to the web. When 82% of the web was fractured, the bridge was loaded until failure. The test results showed that the twin-girder bridges have substantial redundancy due to load redistribution.

2${\sim}$3개의 주거만을 갖는 소수주거더교가 강교량의 생애주기비용 최소화를 위하여 활발하게 적용되고 있다. 그러나 2개의 거더만을 갖는 2주거더교에 있어서는 한 개의 거더에 파손이 발생하는 경우에 전체 교량이 갖는 여유도 및 내하력에 대한 의문이 제기되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 모형교량을 이용한 2주거더 교량의 여유도 평가가 수행되었다. 1개의 거더에 피로균열을 모사한 인위적인 균열을 거더의 중간 부위에 가한 후, 균열을 진전시켜 가며 실험을 수행하였다. 중간 가로보의 영향도 실험에서 파악하였다. 균열이 복부판 깊이의 82%까지 진전되었을 때 파괴실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과는 하중 재분배에 의해 2주거더교가 상당한 여유도를 갖고 있는 것을 보여주었다.
