Abstract

In this study, regional rainfall frequency analysis was conducted to overcome the drawbacks of at-site frequency analysis, which can be observed in case of short records at the sites of interest. For this purpose, 378 gaging stations were divided into 14 regions by using Fuzzy technique, which is one of the clustering methods. For each region, regional shape estimation and index flood methods as regional frequency analysis and at-site frequency analysis were applied to rainfall data. As the results, regional frequency analysis gave more stable quantile estimates than at-site one did. And index flood method was prefer to regional shape estimation method based on the characteristics of L-CV (coefficient of variation) of Korean rainfall data.
