Abstract

Most of current business companies have been confronted with serious competition and uncertainty of future in Korean and worldwide industry markets. Under this situation, one of methods to overcome the competition and uncertainty is to perform successful activities of quality management. This paper shows how quality management activities are performed under various conditions of variables which are related with major characteristics of business organizations and their employees in Korea. Quality management activities of interests are leadership, information analysis, strategic planning, etc., which are dependent variables, while the independent variables are the major characteristics of business organizations and employees, which are business type, position rank, exporting, being ISO 9000/14000 certified, work experience years, etc. Then, we found the relations among variables such as that business companies being ISO 9000 certified/ exporting are good at some of quality management activities, that employees with long work experience years are weak at some of them, etc. Thus, business organizations and their members can have discernment and guidelines about what quality management activities should be emphasized, desired or have been overlooked, for example.
