Abstract

This paper is concerned with an analysis of causality between creative industries and urban employment growth. A test of Moran's I finds that there are spatial concentrations of the creative industries in Seoul and major cities in Gyeonggi Province. Also the employment of the creative industry has larger effects on the urban labor growth than that of high-technology sector, while the communication and information sector generating the highest employment effects in urban area. Finally, more regional tolerance such as development of foreign community areas and better educational services can lead to industrial growth of the creative sector.
