Abstract
We propose a two-layered light guiding model having partial reflectivity to predict the performance of a designed light guiding panel. A simplified inner-scatterer-based light guiding panel has a different reflectivity on each surface without any absorption. On the surface, Gaussian scattering happens at every reflection. From the simulation results, a linear pattern provided an average brightness (231 cd/$mm^2$) similar to the experimental results (211 cd/$mm^2$) under the conditions of 40 % reflectivity and 60 % transmissivity. However, in the case of a curved pattern, the simulated value has a big difference from the experimental value of 429 cd/$mm^2$. A detailed simulation and experiment for the effect of the optical reflectivity at each surface, including absorption, could provide a more exact prediction for the designed light guiding panel.
