The purpose of this study is to improve the most relevant research on how to develop the rural tourism via review of the thesis subjects in Korean academic journals. The result of analysis, the first rural tourism research has started to introduce agricultural park since 1983. In 1990s, the tourism research was mainly done agricultural tourism development, agricultural tourism planning, agricultural tourism improvement. Moreover, in the early 2000s, it was studied simultaneously green tourism and rural tourism. The rural tourism research had been studied extensively such as maintain and management, research of awareness in the late 2000s. Especially, the research of awareness was showed that it was not only away from the development plans for service provider but also considering customer satisfaction, consumer preferences and tourists visiting for service visitor. According to these results, the first rural tourism is necessary to multiple research for sustainable agricultural tourism and globalization. Further, in order to develop the rural tourism, we should try to achieve the goal of regional economic vitalization via studying the destination rural tourism, awareness of returning to rural areas for farming ect,.
