Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge of, attitude toward, and motivation to vaccinate human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine among Korean women. This study was a cross-sectional correlational survey. Data were collected from 266 women by self-report questionnaires from August 27 to September 20, 2009. The mean scores of knowledge and attitude on HPV vaccine were 7.95$\pm$2.83 and 3.72$\pm$.47, respectively. Recommendation from clinician, family, and friend were the major motivation for HPV vaccination for participants. Most respondents (75.6%) wanted to know more about the HPV vaccine. This study indicates that efforts to provide more information on HPV vaccine should be made even to women who initiated HPV vaccination and clinicians should be actively involve to recommend HPV vaccination in clinical setting as well as in community.
