Abstract

The extracted coffee oil from waste ground coffee was increased with ultrasonic irradiation time in ultrasonic assisted solvent extraction. The optimum extraction time was 20 min, and it was faster than solvent extraction. The extraction was more dependent on solubility parameter than ultrasonic energy density in the low ultrasonic power, but the ultrasonic energy density affected its extraction in the high ultrasonic power and in turn, extraction yield. The optimum extraction condition was 450W of ultrasonic power in $40^{\circ}C$ using n-hexane as a solvent. The ultrasonic assisted solvent extraction reduced the extraction time, and the oil was able to be extracted in low temperature. The coffee oil may be used biodiesel through a refinement.
