Abstract
The study deals with the traffic accidents of urban link sections. The objectives are to analyze the characteristics of traffic accidents by road function, and to develop the accident models in Cheongju arterial link sections. In pursuing the above, this study uses the accident data of 347 small links occurred in 2007, and gives particular attentions to developing such the models as multiple linear, Poisson and negative binomial regression models. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, major arterial roads are analyzed to have more accidents and EPDO than minor arterial roads. Second, 2 accident models which are all statistically significant are developed. The independent variables used in the above models are the number of lane, inflection point and entry/exit road. This study could be expected to give some implications to the traffic safety policy decision-making.
