Comparison of Depression and Life-stress by Values in University Students

대학생의 가치관에 따른 우울과 생활스트레스의 비교

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of depression and life-stress by values in Korean university students. Data were collected by structured questionnaires form 212 students by convenient sampling methods from August to November 2011. The type of values were classified into: personal oriented values, 64.6%; social oriented values, 35.4%. There were no significant differences in depression by values. But there were significant differences in frequency of experiences and importance of life-stress by values. Also, there were significant differences for correlation between depression and life-stress by values. These results suggest that for the university student, the nursing strategies should be developed in order to improve ability to reduce life-stress and depression considering such differences by values. Especially, it is necessary to attention in management of stress and depression for students with personal oriented values.

본 연구의 목적은 한국 대학생의 가치관에 따른 우울과 생활스트레스 정도를 파악하고, 이들 변수 간의 관계를 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구는 충청도 소재의 5개의 대학교에 재학 중인 학생 212명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자가보고방식으로 설문조사가 시행되었다. 연구결과, 대상자의 가치관은 개인지향 가치관 64.6%, 사회지향 가치관 35.4%로 분류되었다. 가치관에 따른 우울은 유의한 차이가 없었으나, 생활스트레스는 경험빈도와 중요도 인식에 있어서 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 개인지향 가치관을 가진 경우, 우울은 장래문제, 동성친구, 경제문제, 가족관계, 가치관문제, 학업문제와 관련된 생활스트레스의 경험빈도와 유의한 상관관계가 있었으며, 장래문제, 경제문제, 가치관문제, 학업문제에 있어서 생활스트레스의 중요도 인식과 우울이 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사회지향 가치관을 가진 경우, 우울은 장래문제, 가치관문제의 생활스트레스 경험빈도와 유의한 상관관계가 있었으며, 가치관문제, 학업문제에 있어서 우울과 생활스트레스의 중요도 인식과 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 대학생의 우울 및 스트레스 관리를 위한 간호전략은 가치관에 따른 이러한 차이를 고려하여야하며, 특히 개인지향 가치관을 가진 대학생의 우울 관리에 있어, 당면과제 및 가족과 친구의 대인관계로 인한 스트레스 조절에 관한 부분이 더욱 중요하게 다루어져야 할 부분으로 사료된다.
