The Factors Influencing the Subjective Quality of Life of Caregivers

요양보호사의 주관적 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify caregivers' self-esteem, social support, and the subjective quality of life, and to determine the relations among those variables, and the factors affecting the subjective quality of life of caregivers. The data was collected from 215 first-rate certified caregivers through the questionnaire, and the period was from June to September in 2011. In this research, the mean score of self-esteem was $27.54{\pm}3.01$, social support, $77.50{\pm}20.50$, and the subjective quality of life, $41.10{\pm}10.29$. Also, it showed the positive relation between self-esteem and social support (r=.347, p<.001), self-esteem and the subjective quality of life (r=.406, p<.001), and social support and subjective quality of life (r=.598, p<.001). In the mean time, it examined the factors affecting the subjective quality of life were social support (${\beta}=.519$, p<.001) and self-esteem (${\beta}=.227$, p<.001), and explained 39.7% of the variance. As the long-term care insurance for the elderly is being implemented, it becomes crucial for caregivers to provide a high quality of care service to the clients as those who play an important role in nursing. Thus, in order to enhance their self-esteem, we should pay more attention to developing a training program for them and building a social network for the support system.

본 연구의 목적은 요양보호사의 자아존중감, 사회적 지지와 주관적 삶의 질 수준을 파악하고 이 변수들 간의 관계와 주관적 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하기 위함이다. 자료 수집은 구조화된 설문지를 통해 1급 요양보호사 215명으로부터 이루어졌으며, 수집 기간은 2011년 6월부터 9월까지였다. 본 연구에서 자아존중감은 $27.54{\pm}3.01$점, 사회적 지지는 $77.50{\pm}20.50$점, 주관적 삶의 질은 $41.10{\pm}10.29$점이었으며, 자아존중감과 사회적 지지(r=.347, p<.001), 자아존중감과 주관적 삶의 질(r=.406, p<.001), 사회적 지지와 주관적 삶의 질(r=.598, p<.001)은 각각 순상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 주관적 삶의 질에 영향을 주는 변수로는 사회적 지지(${\beta}$=.519, p<.001)와 자아존중감(${\beta}=.227$, p<.001)이었으며, 이들 변인의 설명력은 39.7%였다. 노인장기요양보험제도가 시행되면서 간호업무의 중추적인 역할을 담당하는 요양보호사가 대상자에게 질 높은 간호를 제공하기 위해서는 이들의 자아존중감을 증진시키기 위한 교육프로그램의 개발과 지지체계 확보를 위한 사회적 관계망 조성에 주력해야 할 것이다.
