Abstract
As the communication's bandwidth of ISPs comprising the Internet grows, and the web traffic increases and becomes diverse, conventional web traffic model does not only fit for the real world but it's also hard to suggest a fixed traffic model. This purpose of the paper is for the web server implementer to quickly measure the network delay to the web server from various locations and model it. In the user's point of view, the response time of the web comprises of time spent in the server, in the network, and in the client user. The time spent in the server is under control of the server implementer but the client side cannot be controlled by the server implementer. The time spent in the network is affected by many factors such as the number of nodes and their capacity, bandwidth, volume of traffic and others. Since these factors are under the control of ISPs besides LAN environment, the server implementers can only ensure the quality of the service indirectly by subscribing relevant ISP. Therefore the server implementer needs to measure the geographic network service quality and eliminate the user's complaints beforehand. This paper suggests how to quickly measure and model the network delay of geographically dispersed areas.
