A Comparative Analysis Study of Korean Web Contents Accessibility Guidelines

한국형 웹 콘텐츠 접근성 지침 비교 분석 연구

Abstract

This study is intended as a comparative analysis of the Korean web accessibility guidelines, KWCAG 1.0 and 2.0; its implications were discussed. In particular, it turned out that KWCAG 2.0, by comparison with KWCAG 1.0, was able to provide more definite alternative text in terms of image content, enhances guidance for accessing and use of the keyboard and for a clear distinction of data tables, and also regulate access compliance about all relevant new web technologies such as Flash, Java and Silverlight. As a result, KWCAG 1.0 put emphasis on Web content accessibility whereas KWCAG 2.0 expands its scope of usefulness including access possibility. It signifies that further guidance for web accessibility will be included its predictability on the features and contents, and will be broaden its compatibility and flexibility for new technologies.

본 연구에서는 한국형 웹 접근성 지침인 KWCAG 1.0과 2.0에 대하여 비교.분석을 수행하고 그 시사점을 고찰하였다. 특히, KWCAG 2.0은 1.0에 비해 이미지 콘텐츠에 대한 명확한 대체텍스트 제공, 데이터 테이블의 명확한 구분 및 키보드 접근과 사용 등에 대한 지침을 강화하고 Flash, Java 및 Silverlight 등 웹 관련 모든 신기술에 대한 접근성 준수를 규정하는 것으로 나타났다. 그 결과 KWCAG 1.0은 웹 콘텐츠에 대한 접근가능성에 무게를 두고 있는 반면, 2.0은 접근가능성을 포함하여 사용가능성까지 그 범위를 확대하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이것은 향후 개발되어질 지침은 콘텐츠의 기능과 내용에 대한 예측가능성과 함께 신기술에 대한 호환성 및 유연성에 대한 부분까지 확대될 것으로 예상된다.
