Abstract
The thermal decomposition of two OL-chains from the $Fe(OL)_3$ precursor produced Fe-OL monomers that contributed to the formation of iron-oxide nanoparticles. The iron-oxide nanoparticles synthesized in an Ar atmosphere showed an average size of 35 nm with a monodisperse size distribution, but the iron-oxide nanoparticles synthesized under an Ar bubble showed an average size of less than 7 nm with a monodisperse size distribution. These results confirmed that the Ar bubble not only increased the number of nuclei to reduce the nanoparticle size to less than 7 nm but also influenced burst nucleation and rapid growth, leading to the formation of monodisperse nanoparticles. Thus, monodisperse iron-oxide nanoparticles with size distributions of less than 4% can be easily achieved by using an Ar bubble.
