Abstract

Objective: Oral gas, breath gas and nasal gas were measured by use of B&B checker in order to know the relationship between the oral gas and the oral care habits. Methods: 303 subjects from age 10,S to 80,S were participated to be measured the oral gases and got the questionaire for oral care habits, Corelation coefficiency was estimated between the two factors. Results: The desire for treatment was related with the oral gas (r=0.229, p<0.01) and there was a relationship between the present oral maloder and the ordinary malodor (r=0.467, p<0.01). There was a little relationship between the present oral maloder or ordinary oral maloder, and the oral symptoms or smoking habit, and moderate relationship with the desire for malodor control. There was a little bit negative relationship between the tongue cleaning and the oral symptoms (r=-0.152, p<0.05), and the smoking and the drinking habits (r=0.312, p<0.01), and a little bit relationship between the smoking or drinking and the desire for maloder control (r=0.158, r=0.163, p<0.05). Breath gas or nasal gas was a little relation with the tongue cleaning or the desire for maloder control. Conclusion: For proper maloder control, it should be important to aware the oral maloder gas by self recognition in order to promote the desire for maloder control in clinical.
