Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the school violence prevention program on the school violence attitudes, anger and school adjustment resilience in the middle school students. The research design was planned as quasi-experimental study by applying a non-equivalent control group pre-and-post-test design. The participants for the study were 224 first grade students of J and S middle school in G city (experimental group 114, control group 110). The experimental group participated in the school violence prevention program during the 12 weeks, and the control group did not participate in the program. From October to December 2012, data were collected using self-report structured questionnaires, and were analyzed by chi-square test, t-test and ANCOVA with SPSS/Win 20.0 program. After the treatment, significant differences were found between the experimental and control group in terms of anger (t=-3.974, p<.001) and school adjustment resilience (t=3.757, p<.001). Based on the above the findings, the school violence program showed a positive effect on anger and school adjustment resilience in middle school students.
