Influencing Factors of Learning Style, Critical Thinking Disposition on Clinical Performance Competency of Nursing Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among learning style, critical thinking disposition, and clinical performance competency and to identify the factors affecting clinical performance competency of nursing students. The subjects of this study were 187 senior nursing students from four college located in B and C city. The data were analyzed by using SPSS-WIN 20.0 program. Learning style was the highest rate of adaptor. The score of critical thinking disposition was $3.33{\pm}.37$ and clinical performance competency was $3.47{\pm}.46$. There were significant difference in clinical performance competency according to satisfaction of practice and theory in general characteristics. Critical thinking disposition showed significant positive correlation with clinical competency (r=.496, p<.001). The factors affecting clinical performance competency were critical thinking and satisfaction of theory. They were accounted 30.9% in clinical performance competency. These results indicate a need to develop effective teaching methods promoting critical thinking and satisfaction of theory.

본 연구는 간호대학생의 학습유형과 비판적 사고성향을 확인하고, 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 실시하였다. B시에 소재한 4년제 간호학과 1개교와 3년제 간호과 1개교, C시에 소재한 4년제 간호학과 1개교와 3년제 간호과 1개교의 간호대학생 중 임상실습을 마친 졸업반 학생 187명을 대상으로 하였으며, 자료는 SPSS windows 20.0프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 대상자의 학습유형은 적응자가 가장 많았으며, 비판적 사고성향 정도는 평균평점 5점 만점에 $3.33{\pm}.37$점, 임상수행능력 정도는 평균평점 5점 만점에 $3.47{\pm}.46$점으로 나타났다. 일반적 특성에 따른 임상수행능력의 차이는 이론만족도와 실습만족도에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 비판적 사고성향과 임상수행능력은 통계적으로 유의한 순 상관관계를 나타내었다(r=.496, p<.001). 임상수행능력에 영향을 미치는 요인은 비판적 사고성향의 하위영역 중 지적정직, 지적열정과 건전한 회의성, 신중성 그리고 일반적 특성 중 이론만족도이었고, 이들 요인의 설명력은 총 30.9%였다. 그러므로 간호대학생의 임상수행능력 향상을 위해서는 이들 변수를 반영한 다양한 교수법과 학습전략마련이 필요하다.
