Abstract

Ubiquitous City(U-City) from Korea is competing with Smart City originated from EU and USA to dominate the ICTs based urban development market of developing country in advance. While U-City is efficiently driven through ubiquitous system in new towns, Smart City is performing via physical, intellectual and social capital in existing cities. This paper aims at suggesting the U-City oversea expansion strategy through SWOT analysis based on comparing U-City and Smart City in terms of the goal, concept, target, principal agent and system of oversea expansion strategies. This study proposed four U-City oversea expansion strategies; strengthening the U-City Head Quarter(UCHQ) in Korea, promoting the U-City Global Partnership(UCGP) between developing and developed country, achieving the U-City global standardization(UCGS) and vitalizing the U-City Mice industry(U-Mice; Meeting, Incentives, Convention, Event and Exhibition). Sustaining strategies on the basis of long-range view can realize the initiative of U-City among competitive concepts and contribute as a future locomotive to global market in post construction industry.
