Abstract
Recently, the increase of single-household has caused many research and induced small-sized housing development in South Korea. In Europe and Japan, a new form of single-household housing system called share house has developed and settled. In South Korea especially in Seoul, also share house began to be diffused while the government is promoting a shared house policy and it is on the way of settlement. And yet, residents' understanding of research on share house is still insufficient, so it is necessary to carry out studies of share house and the features and design characteristics of share house in Korea. In this study, the planning characteristics of share house are analyzed from the view of development target and scale, public space, private space, layout form and operating method. As a result, a share house has been built through remodeling of various types and scale of building rather than newly built. The basic space composition can be considered into public and private spaces. The characteristics of public space are that it is composed of various community features helping common living convenience centered around the lounge and the kitchen. As of private space, it is composed of individually separated room with bed and desk helping personnel convenience. The composition types of public and private spaces can be classified into centralized type, modular type and separable type. In addition, various themes are operated for target tenant according to individuals, specific groups or anonymous personnels.
