Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the characteristics of visitors walking through forest trails of three temples in the Kajisan Provincial Parks, to compare those of visitors, and to suggest the guidelines for managing temple forest trail. Survey with a structured questionnaire was randomly implemented to visitors to the three temples i.e. Tongdosa, Seoknamsa, and Naewonsa, which were representative temples in Kajisan Provincial Park. The results showed that user satisfaction to the trail was moderately high. Naewonsa visitors revealed the highest satisfaction to nature-friendly characteristics, walking conditions, and the length of the trail. Both Tongdosa and Seoknamsa temple forests should be managed to enhance ecological tourism for outdoor recreation. Conservation of natural environment, renovation of utility facility, guarantee of monetary fund, and complementation of operational system were suggested to enhance these functions.
